Week 56: DESSERT

"Eat dessert first!"  Don't you just love the sound of that saying?!  This week, we're going to indulge everyone's sweet tooth a bit...calorie free!  That is, unless you're like some of us and snitch a little sugar to eat while creating those fantastic cards of yours!  What is your favorite sweet indulgence?  Maybe you're one of those people that has such strong willpower that the thought of such a thing doesn't even appeal to you or maybe a plate of fresh fruit is sweet enough for you?  We can't wait to see what you think of when it comes to dessert (and we're keeping some tissues handy to catch the drool.)!

Before we reveal this week's inspiration, we'd like to introduce to you a wonderful new sponsor!  You'll have to agree that this sponsor is absolutely perfect for this week's cue word challenge...

Eat Cake Graphics is an online rubber stamp and quilt pattern company that's been adding a bit of whimsy to the world since 2000. Holly designs and manufactures it all – from the tiniest stamp to her latest quilt pattern featuring nutty squirrels!

This week's winner will receive a $25.00 gift certificate to the store!

Now let's see what the design team and this week's guest designer have created for inspiration!

Guest Designer:  Donna
design defined:
Masking images keeps a card simple with minimal layers.

 design defined:
Smaller cards can be clean and simple too!

Rosemary
design defined:
Stamping your image using a neutral color and then adding a portion of the image in a bold color is a fun way to keep things simple, but still interesting.

Tracey

design defined: Don't be afraid to use  patterned paper as a background on a CAS card.

 design defined:
CAS doesn't have to be limited to supplies in your craft room!

Gillian
design defined:
Use clear embossing to add texture to a CAS card.

Jen
design defined:
Small amounts of texture add interest to a CAS design without overwhelming it.

Judy
design defined:
One main image and lots of white space = CAS!

Kimberly
design defined:
A large image can be used for a CAS card, with a simple color palette and lots of white space!

design defined:
Monochromatic color schemes work perfectly on CAS designs.

Now go have fun and don't forget to link up your DESSERT creations by Sunday at 4:00 p.m. (CDT)!

  3. Hmm, I went ahead with the challenge after I first saw what it was as I was so excited (it was desserts - what did ya expect, lol)...didn't think to check whether it had to be a card to qualify for CASology challenges. It was only after I had posted and linked up to here, that it occurred to me that I might not have met the criteria for participating... so I went to check the guidelines and hints. Now it doesn't actually specify that it has to be a card, so if it needs to be a card, I wonder if you could specify that please for future reference. Unless CAS by definition means cards only. Many thanks. Love this challenge blog by the way.
